Zoe and the Thunder in Her Chest

Starring Zoe, age 5 — loves yellow, mac and cheese, and "Momo" the plush elephant

This is a real example of what our AI creates. Your child’s book will star them — their look, their favorites, their beloved toy.

The refrain your child will ask to say along: "Hello, feeling," said Zoe. "I see you. You can sit with me — but I'm the boss."
Zoe on tiptoes placing a block on a wobbling tower, Momo the elephant watchingPage 1
Zoe was building the tallest tower in the whole world. It was seventeen blocks tall. Maybe a hundred.
Blocks scattering everywhere, Zoe frozen mid-gaspPage 2
And then — CRASH. Every single block, all over the floor.
A small storm cloud, dark and crackly, hovering over Zoe's chestPage 3
Something hot and loud woke up inside Zoe's chest. It rumbled like thunder. It wanted to ROAR.
The cloud growing larger and darker as Zoe stompsPage 4
Zoe squeezed her fists. She stomped her foot. The thunder got BIGGER.
Zoe shoving at the cloud, which bounces back bigger, like a beach ballPage 5
"Go AWAY, thunder!" Zoe shouted. But pushing a feeling away is like pushing a beach ball under water. It pops right back up.
Momo the elephant offering a tiny wave to the storm cloudPage 6
"Maybe don't push," said Momo softly. "Maybe just… say hello."
Zoe looking sideways at Momo, unconvinced, cloud rumbling between themPage 7
"HELLO?!" said Zoe. "To THUNDER?" "Try it," said Momo. "Thunder hates being ignored, but it calms down when you call it by name."
Zoe breathing slowly, a gentle yellow glow starting around herPage 8
Zoe took a breath. In through her nose, like smelling mac and cheese. Out through her mouth, like cooling it down.
Zoe facing the cloud directly, hands on hips, naming itPage 9
"Hello, feeling," said Zoe. "I see you. You're MAD. My tower crashed and it's NOT FAIR."
The cloud shrinking slightly, its crackles turning to soft sparklesPage 10
The thunder rumbled a little softer. It liked being seen.
A now cat-sized cloud sitting beside Zoe like a grumpy petPage 11
"You can sit with me," said Zoe, "but I'm the boss." She patted the floor. The thunder sat.
Zoe and the tiny puff breathing together, Momo conducting like a maestroPage 12
They breathed together — in like mac and cheese, out like cooling it down — until the thunder was only a little gray puff.
Zoe rebuilding, using scattered blocks as a moat, tiny puff helpingPage 13
"You know," said Zoe, "crashes make good moats." And she started building a castle around the fallen blocks.
A cozy block castle with the tiny puff peeking from the top windowPage 14
The new tower was only nine blocks tall. But it had a moat, a drawbridge, and a very small cloud who lived in the tippy top.
Zoe asleep with Momo, the tiny puff dozing peacefully on the pillow beside themPage 15
Big feelings still visited Zoe sometimes. But now she always said hello first. Because Zoe was the boss. THE END.
